Commercial Swimming Pool Moveable Floor Servicing
At Access Underwater, we offer comprehensive Moveable Swimming Pool Floor and Boom Servicing Surveys that include a meticulous examination of your facility’s submerged mechanical systems. Our expert team conducts full operational inspections and structural assessments, aiming to identify existing mechanical wear and potential future points of failure. By addressing these concerns early, we ensure uninterrupted swimming sessions, passenger safety, and the ongoing operational integrity of your facility.
Our servicing focuses on identifying critical wear patterns across positional rollers, guide tracks, pulley assemblies, structural framework, and cable terminations. We understand the importance of maintaining an adjustable floor system, as any mechanical fault directly impacts pool scheduling, safety compliance, and operational revenue. By proactively servicing and cleaning these underwater systems, we eliminate costly downtime and protect your swimmers from mechanical hazards.
We recognise that moveable floor and boom systems are complex, demanding high reliability across busy local authority leisure centres and private aquatic facilities. When cables fray or debris jams running tracks, pool closures follow quickly. Our experienced commercial dive team understands the engineering behind flotation and hydraulic systems, possessing the specialist underwater expertise required to service, clean, and maintain your equipment safely without draining your pool.
Preventing Floor Failures and Operational Downtime
Failed cables, seized pulleys, or misaligned guide rollers pose significant risks to both aquatic facility schedules and public safety. Access Underwater prioritises reliability; our routine preventative servicing is designed to keep commercial moveable floors and submersible booms fully operational. By conducting all detailed mechanical inspections and debris clearance underwater, we remove the need for expensive and disruptive pool drain-downs.
To minimise interruption to your timetabled programming, we offer flexible day and night servicing schedules. Our goal is to provide thorough mechanical checks and preventative maintenance while your pool remains full of water, allowing you to maintain open public swim sessions, club training, and lessons with zero to minimal operational impact. We understand the commercial pressure of running a high-footfall facility and tailor our service visits around your pool timetable.
What is involved in moveable swimming pool floor servicing?
Submerged moveable floor systems operate under continuous water pressure, chemical exposure, and tension. Regular servicing requires an exhaustive check of every structural and moving component beneath the deck. During our inspections, our dive technicians examine the Grade 316L stainless steel support framework, HDPE and high-grade polypropylene surface panels, panel fixings, and travel clearances to confirm complete structural stability.
A crucial focus of our servicing is the cable and drive network. We inspect the stainless steel wire ropes (such as 7×19 construction lines) for broken strands, corrosion, or stretching, alongside the nylon vertical and horizontal pulley mechanisms. Special attention is given to rope termination points: where pulldown cables secure to framework eyelets using mechanically spliced thimble eyes and u-bolt configurations, we inspect each crimp and fitting to verify total structural security. Floor positional rollers, guide wheels, and mechanical fasteners are rigorously inspected to confirm correct alignment and smooth running.
Equally vital to physical checks is the deep clearance of beneath-floor debris. Between service intervals, pool floors accumulate substantial quantities of dead skin, biofilm, hair bands, coins, lost goggles, small toys, and fabric fibres from swimwear. Left unchecked, this compacted debris gathers around pulleys, wedges into roller tracks, and impedes cable movement. Our dive technicians clean these submerged areas thoroughly, ensuring the mechanism remains free from obstructions that could strain drive cylinders or cause floor jams.
Moveable Booms and Multi-Zone Flexibility
Modern commercial swimming facilities rely heavily on moveable booms to subdivide large tanks—such as 50-metre competition pools—into versatile multi-use zones. Whether your facility utilises submersible booms floating from recessed underwater floor trenches or traversable bulkheads moving along side tracks, continuous maintenance is essential to keep these dividing systems safe and responsive.
Because moveable booms allow swimming pools to operate multiple concurrent sessions—hosting mother-and-baby classes in shallow zones, lane swimming in central sections, and deep-water scuba or sub-aqua training elsewhere—a failure in boom mechanics cripples a facility’s programming. Booms endure significant hydrodynamic forces, swimmer loads, and tension cycles on their locking mechanisms, pulldown cables, and guide rails.
Access Underwater provides specialist servicing for both submersible and traversable boom mechanisms. We inspect underwater locking latches, boom guide cables, submerged buoyancy voids, and alignment stops. By checking that the boom operates smoothly and seats flush within its recess or locking position, we prevent uneven cable pull, panel distortion, and surface hazards.
Regular preventative maintenance by certified commercial diving technicians preserves your equipment warranties and extends the lifespan of your capital investment. Contact Access Underwater today to book your scheduled moveable floor and boom service, ensuring your aquatic facility stays safe, compliant, and fully operational.
